Ventura jail riot ends as fire units quell six hour uprising
Almost 100 prisoners, including women inmates, fought deputies and fire crews in Ventura County Jail for six hours. Police say overcrowding fueled the clash in the women’s holding tanks. 12 women linked to the riot were moved to Santa Barbara County jail and 17 male inmates to the sheriff’s ranch for safety. No major injuries reported.
