Meir to Meet Nixon Thursday on Mideast Peace

Israeli Premier Golda Meir will meet President Nixon on Thursday and says it is high time talks move seriously toward peace. She adds that last Wednesday’s Libyan airliner downing should not affect the discussions. In Moscow Brezhnev met Egyptian War Minister Ismail for four hours to discuss military and political matters.

Vieira 85 of Lompoc who died Sunday in San Luis Obispo Requiem Mass will be held Wednesday at La Purisima Church Interment at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery Vieira born in 1884 in the Azores came to Lompoc in 1914 He was a long time rancher and member of IDES UPPEC and St Anthony's Society He is survived by a son George Vieira daughter Marie Thacker seven grandchildren and one sister His wife Angelina preceded him in death Friends may visit the mortuary through service time Wednesday Funeral services for Harold G Delaney 58 of Kingman Ariz will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary Santa Maria with interment at Santa Maria Cemetery Delaney born in 1914 was a 14 year local resident active in Shrine Club He is survived by his widow Ruby of Arizona.

Winifred S Burnett died Sunday in a Santa Maria hospital. Born 1918 in Ford Kansas she lived in Lompoc since 1957 with husband Melvin. Survived by daughter Kay Iland of Ojai two Ventura sisters and a San Bernardino brother. Interment 11 30 a m at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Thursday.

Cabrillo band to host Flower Festival Parade duties

The Cabrillo High School Conquistadores marching band will host the 1973 Flower Festival Parade with the Lompoc High Braves on alternate years. They will perform in four California parades carrying the Flower Festival Host Band Banner, including Pismo Beach on March 3 and San Juan Capistrano on March 24. The group has earned honors at the Clam Festival and Return of the Swallows Parade and plans a northern California trip in May with a San Francisco visit. Glen Newcomb praises the students as ambassadors for the Lompoc Valley and invites crowds to next June’s festival.

Man Dies After Crash in Ravine Near Camino Cielo

The body of 26 year old Montecito man William Robert Holden was found in a 400 foot ravine on U.S. Forest Service land off Gibraltar Road near Camino Cielo. CHP said he was ejected from his car and died Saturday around 10 am, discovered yesterday afternoon by county workers. Rescue crews retrieved the body after road crews initially located the car earlier that morning.

Lompoc Woman Injured In Car Collision

Sumiko Jackson, 40, of 528 A North L Street, was admitted to Lompoc Hospital with knee lacerations and possible whiplash after a collision with a car driven by 17 year old David Lynn Hamilton of 1105 E Mango Avenue. She remains under observation.
