Lompoc Girls Club appoints Carol Leigh activities director

Carol Leigh named new activities director for Lompoc Girls Club by executive director Linda Courtemanche. A seven year Lompoc resident, she hails from Gardena with extensive youth and adult leadership. She taught arts and crafts in church settings for 16 years and serves as a church group president, with ongoing volunteer work at local schools and preschools.

AFS Hosts Domestic Exchange Participants Return

In a domestic exchange program, three students completed a week at Chula Vista High School living with local families. Lompoc High School sent Maria Ramirez of Bilbao Spain while Cabrillo High School shows interest with two students Robin Garman and Arlen Van Draanen joining the visit alongside Lompoc’s Isabel Hernandez and Bishop High School president. Other Lompoc students Holly Pearson and Leslie Healy stayed with host families in town.

Local writers learn of copyrights and damage suits

Local writer Michael J. Palmer spoke to Lompoc Creative Writers on copyrights and damage suits. He urged written permission for use of others work and discussed privacy and defamation in writing. New club officers were elected: Angeline Weil president, Anita Nygaard vice president secretary, Barbara Berryhill treasurer. The Rev. A. J. Knoll donated writers instruction books to the club library.
