Prime Minister Heath fights to save his Conservative government as parliament weighs ratification of the Jan. 22 treaty to join the European Common Market. The U S attorney general's office and the FBI will present an intensive inquiry into irregularities at the Federal Correctional Institution in Lompoc to a federal grand jury. Named figures include Anthony Santiago and Roy Goddard, with others placed on leave or severed amid probes into inmate privilege abuses.
Gilbert Vargas a 33 year old Lompoc father of three was critically burned last night when a gasoline sparked lantern exploded. He was admitted to Lompoc Hospital after 10 p.m. with second and third degree burns covering about sixty percent of his body. Three Air Force personnel Donald Williams Silas Adams and Dallas Berry rushed to the scene and aided Vargas before taking him to hospital.
