Hapgood students honor bicentennial with costumes and dance
Hapgood School plans a bicentennial program this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room. First graders present a pledge and Betsy Ross play, while fourth through sixth graders perform period dances and recount 1776 events. An intermediate choir with piano by Iva Nell Chesser and director Mary Saladino leads patriotic songs. Officer elections for 1976 77 are to be announced along with the Founders Day awards.

Vandenberg Honors Its Wife of the Year at Dinner
On February 13 1976 at the Officers Club Vandenberg held a ceremony naming Mrs William Guthrie as the Vandenberg Wife of the Year. Five nominees were honored for their activities including Mrs Joseph Johnson Mrs Francis Madden Mrs John Yocum and Mrs Charles Marshall. Brig Gen Stuart Sherman welcomed guests and Maj Gen Warner Newby presented certificates and the trophy. Barbara Guthrie represented the Red Cross as Volunteer of the Year.
