Summer school plans delayed amid limited interest at Buellton
Buellton Union School District halted plans for a first ever Buellton summer school after only 118 responses to parent surveys. Superintendent R O Johnson said more enrollments are needed to make the program financially feasible and warned against a mediocre offering. The meeting also noted candidate Rita White withdrew late from the March 8 trustee race leaving Torben Jensen Niel D Jones and Louise Beaman as contenders. The board adopted a conflict of interest code. SMID directors said the new wastewater plant nears completion and asked county agencies to consider its nearing capacity in future developments. The 1972 warning could be rescinded with the substantial project completion.
