American woman evicted after West Irian marriage saga

Mrs. Wyn Sargent, 46, said her marriage to Chief Obahorok of the Baliem Valley tribe was official after she slaughtered a pig but she was evicted for failing to consummate the marriage. Immigration officials ordered her to leave for conducting unlicensed research.

Reagan plans to shutter three California mental hospitals

Faith in God and nation helps POW Denton says faith carried 7.2 years in captivity

Navy Captain Jeremiah C. Denton Jr. told reporters at Travis Air Force Base that faith in God and country sustained him through seven and a half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. He recalled prisoners signaling hope with a whistle and described his return aboard Homecoming One from Clark Air Base. Denton, shot down July 18, 1965, spoke of reuniting with his Virginia family and the endured rigors of captivity.
