Veterans protest occupies Sen Cranston suite in L.A.
Fifteen protesters including five Vietnam veterans in wheelchairs seized the 13th floor suite of U.S. Sen. Alan Cranston in the Federal Building in Los Angeles. They demanded talks with Cranston and VA officials and asked for food bedding and medicine. A conference was planned ahead of a Senate subcommittee hearing on Long Beach Veterans Hospital conditions. Nixon in very good health after full medical exam
President Nixon underwent a 2.2 hour physical at Bethesda Naval Medical Center. Dr. Walter Tkach said the team found normal results with vital signs in the normal range and no evidence of emotional strain from national crises. He weighed 172 pounds, blood pressure 120 over 74, and noted no change since the July bout with viral pneumonia. Funeral services set for Air Force Major Tony V. Peter
Major Tony V. Peter radar navigation instructor on a B 52 crew died Friday night in a Beale Air Force Base crash. Services at First Methodist Church North F Street Saturday at 2 p.m. Survivors include widow Darlene two sons Garrick Russell and daughter Katrina, parents, sisters and other relatives.
