Reagan to seek 20 percent income tax cut for California

Governor Ronald Reagan intends to return an $852 million surplus to residents by a temporary 20 percent state income tax reduction and delaying a sales tax for seven months. He also proposes a long term spending cap including a permanent 10 percent income tax cut and a constitutional limit on taxation.

Planners near rejection of Goleta Valley condo project

The County Planning Commission nearly denied EEB Inc a 60 unit condominium rezoning on a 13 acre Coronado Road site in Goleta Valley due to water scarcity. Two Sentenced for Forgery in Lompoc Stores

Farris Orville Pierce, 58, and Homer Lee McBee, 46, were sentenced in Lompoc Justice Court by Judge Terrill F. Cox after pleading guilty or being convicted of forgery. Pierce faces 18 months for three counts involving $45 checks, McBee one year for a single $45 check, with orders to repay the stolen amounts. Both were arrested at a Miguelito Canyon address.
