End of Nine-Week Lockout Ends with Three Year Deal at Johns Manville
Chemical Workers Union ratified a three year labor contract with Johns Manville after a nine week lockout. About 500 workers are covered as wage and benefit increases are phased in from February 1975 including hourly raises and cost of living adjustments. Production resumes with most workers back on shift while some return next week. The dispute saw heavy picketing, a temporary restraining order, and disputed cost estimates, but a settlement was reached in Los Angeles and Lompoc negotiations.
