Famed drama figures visit Solvang Festival Theater
Actor-producer Mel Ferrer and Angus Bowner founder of Ashland Oregon Shakespeare Festival toured the Solvang Festival Theater. They met Santa Ynez Valley Arts Assn. leaders and Donovan Marley, who runs Allan Hancock Pacific Conservatory summer shows, and praised the theater’s rapid rise and community support. Bowner recalled Ashland’s 1935 Oregon Shakespearean Festival start and the venture’s evolution into a major year round company. Ferrer attended a Solvang breakfast hosted by arts association members.
