Wolf badges went to Mike Perez and Ricky Shoemaker. bear and arrows awarded across dens. Webelos transition noted for Ricky Cason and Richard Giles with Dan Kesler earning science and pins.
Auld Lang Syne Club schedules a 7 30 pm business meeting at Parks and Recreation Center for a Valentine affair with games and refreshments. Miss Jane Hansen promotes a chicken dinner fund raiser. Job's Daughters hosts a senior princess event Saturday at the Masonic Temple with dinner 5 to 7 30 pm. Beta Sigma Phi holds a sixth annual Valentine Ball at the Lompoc Elks Lodge with seven queens crowned after 7 pm dinner and dancing to Jim Carey Band. Miguelito Circle of Eastern Star meets Monday at 8 pm at the Masonic Temple to prep for the annual bazaar with hostesses named Harold Potter, Robert Cox and Eldon Standridge.
Mrs. Marty Nottbohm describes a proxy visit to New Orleans with Alpha Alpha Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. The talk covers the city’s history, culture, Mardi Gras, slums, and a 1894 note about Carvel leper colony.
The Women of St Marys Episcopal Church announce a Valentine dessert during the February meeting on Tuesday February 8 at 12 30 noon. Hostesses include Myrtle Korczak Linda Simmons Winifred Hervey Lorna Russell Geraldine Drus with Almedia Hutchison as auctioneer for a white elephant sale. Claudia Gates will lead a friendship game and babysitting is offered in the church nursery.
The first annual barbecue was held Saturday at the Johns Manville Clubhouse by members of the Police Department and their wives. Special guests included Gene Wahlers City Administrator and his wife Dana. Sgt. Richard DeLong and his wife Leda led the barbecue prep. Others present were Bennie Contreras and Carl Dennis. Officers and three divisions attended as Reserve Police Auxiliary Civil Defense Auxiliary danced to the Just Us Three Band.
