Camp Fire Girls run big sale to fund local council efforts

In Lompoc California 700 Camp Fire Girls move a major fundraiser through February 15 selling chocolate mint candies door to door in their neighborhoods. General chair John Hannah leads the drive with crews from Blue Birds Junior High and Horizon Club. Proceeds support the local Camp Fire Council with United Fund as a supplementary source.

Miss Alice Randall weds Murray Miller in United Church ceremony

Miss Alice Randall and Murray Miller married Saturday at the United Church of Christ before about 50 guests. Rev. Richard E. Harris officiated. bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Randall of Canyon Road. groom's parents Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Miller of Mission Hills. The bride wore a blue velvet dress with a white fringed sash. bouquet of white roses and blue carnations. Attendants were Miss Bonnie Forbes and Robert Pawlowski. The reception followed in the church hall. Both couples are Lompoc High School and Allan Hancock College graduates. she studies law enforcement, he criminology. both work part time and are employed locally.

Renowned caller Flippo to headline Santa Maria event

Abilene Texas native Marshall Flippo an internationally known square dance caller and recording artist will call at the Curly Q Square Dance Club Trail In dance. The 8 to 11 p m event at Square Dance Center near Santa Maria Airport aims to connect dancers en route to Asilomar Pacific Grove. Flippo, active since 1951, tours coast to coast half the year and spends the rest vacationing at Missouri s Lake of the Ozarks. He has appeared in Square Dancing magazine.

Veterans Auxiliary to name delegates for district convention

Representatives will be chosen Wednesday by Lompoc Auxiliary to Barracks 3462 Veterans of World War I for the district convention Feb. 25 in Pismo Beach. Preceding the business session will be the monthly potluck luncheon in Memorial Hall. Members are asked to save old nylon hose for stuffing therapy balls for Veterans Hospitals. Eastern Stars renew obligations at Miguelito Chapter ceremony

Members and visitors of Miguelito Chapter 176 Order of Eastern Star renewed obligations in a special ceremony. Decorations featured a bouquet in blue yellow red white and greenery. First time visitors were Marie and Henry Edwards. Courtesy officers included Irene Coasts Mary Agerton Esther Marie Whisenant Ed Hardeman and Robert Cox assisted as flag bearer.
