Oil and tar pollution on South Coast beaches rises study shows
Sierra Club survey of 499 people across 12 beaches finds 40.3 percent of 1 707 observations report greater pollution than in past years with UCSB campus beach Coal Oil Point and Isla Vista among the worst affected. About 24.5 percent say pollution remains about the same and 8.7 percent note no opinion.
