Lompoc Council rejects county police consolidation proposal
Lompoc City Council votes 3 to 2 against studying county police consolidation. The body backs an alternative using the Arthur D. Little study to guide cost efficiencies, urging regional task force inclusion and neutral leadership while preserving home rule. It also approves city property lease, fee code updates, a housing plan hearing, and a zoning ordinance for S foot lots with 7000 square feet minimums.

Not much relief offered in County relief program
Santa Barbara County's General Relief Program is easy to administer and qualify for but yields minimal support. It covers up to 90 dollars for rent, 45 dollars for groceries, and 3 dollars in personal needs, with 505,700 dollars budgeted last year. The program, funded locally, targets single unemployed adults, many in agriculture, and includes a work project earning 2.10 dollars an hour credit toward relief.
