Ship hijacker gives himself up to U.S.

Alvin Glatkowski, 21, of Long Beach California, surrendered to the American Embassy in Phnom Penh after hijacking the Columbia Eagle, a munitions ship bound for Thailand. He said he feared Cambodian guards and faces hijacking charges in Los Angeles. He expressed anger at not sinking the ship and vowed to join Communist forces if possible.

Senators defend Cambodia aid pact with Nixon

Senators defend a Senate Nixon Cambodia aid compromise tied to a defense aid package. A proposal to bar ground troops without congressional consent failed 60 to 20.
