Redistricting Could Bring County Planning Changes

Redistricting of the Santa Ynez Valley into the Fourth District could reshape the County Planning Commission. The shift may push for a valley wide planning body or create conflict over appointments, potentially leaving the valley without a commissioner while Goleta gains seats. The move forces decisions by Board of Supervisors Chairman Francis H. Beattie and District 3 appointee Slater regarding replacements.

The board also pushed a public hearing on a tough new sign ordinance to January 14 amid objections from the Sign Users Council of California.
