Under 18 voting registrations begin in Santa Barbara
The County Election Division in Santa Barbara started taking registrations for residents who will be 18 to 20 at school elections. Mrs. Myrtle Heltman reported 10 registrations, including nine students from Santa Barbara City College and Santa Barbara High School and one local housewife. The 18-year-old voting law takes effect Jan 1, 1971, but its constitutionality is unsettled, so registrations are kept separate under county residency rules.

Also noted, Santa Barbara County Medical Society officers for 1971 were elected with Dr William Kucera as President-elect and several doctors named to the Governing Board and California Medical Association delegates, to be installed at the Coral Casino dinner January 29.
