Nimbus E satellite set for launch from Vandenberg
NASA will launch Nimbus E aboard a two stage Delta rocket from Vandenberg AFB to orbit at 1103 km. The 772 kilogram observatory carries six sensors for global twice daily readings including ice and water mapping with microwave instruments and Gulf Stream coverage. Dr William Nordberg, project scientist at Goddard Space Flight Center, leads the mission. Ernest Smith receives a new pickup truck and a traffic ticket en route home.

Lompoc Council Plans Joint Water Rate Discussion
Lompoc city officials will hold a joint meeting of the City Council and Water Commission next Tuesday to review alternate water rate proposals.
