Expressway plan called academic by county official
County Planning Commissioner M. Duncan said the proposed east-west expressway south of Santa Maria Airport would never be built, calling the project academic. Santa Barbara attorney Anthony Romasanta pressed a lot split appeal tied to cemetery land affected by the route. The commission pushed Richards lot-split case one week to allow talks on a proposed 150-foot right of way. Richards said he felt misled as 50 acres near Orcutt Road eyed for cemetery, with about 3 acres needed for the expressway. Flight-pattern complaints rise from Foxenwood residents near the airport interchange plans.
