City Council to decide alley paving alternatives

November construction boom lifts Lompoc and county totals

New construction for November shows strong gains in Lompoc and county areas with residential work driving growth. Lompoc city saw 1.6 million, year to date 4.78 million, while unincorporated Santa Barbara County reached 27.1 million for the fiscal year. Santa Ynez and Santa Maria posted mixed results as Santa Ynez fell short of last year.

Carter weighs Doar as attorney general pick

President-elect Jimmy Carter may tap John Doar as attorney general with Hamilton Jordan confirming Doar and Rep. Robert Bergland as top possibilities. Doar led Nixon impeachment inquiry counsel and served in the Civil Rights Division. Bergland is a Minnesota ally of Humphrey and Mondale. Carter plans to vote in Plains for his brother Billy.

Jacoby Leaves School Board Race. Coe Enters

Richard K. Jacoby announced he will not seek re election to the five member school board for the March 8, 1977 vote. Gail Steiger also said she would not run, opening the door for two new trustees as Ed Walsh Louis A. Montalvo and Bob Coe file unofficially. The move follows a recall effort over last year's school closures and sets up a test of community sentiment.
