Baby girl born to AF captain sparks court fight over pregnancy rule
Susan Struck, an Air Force captain, gave birth to a five day overdue daughter at Madigan General Hospital. The infant is the first born to an officer known to be pregnant before birth while the service faced a challenge to a regulation banning pregnant officers from service. Struck argues the rule is unconstitutional and awaits a Ninth Circuit decision in San Francisco. If she wins she plans to train as a flight nurse and the baby will be adopted in Omaha by Air Force colleagues.
