Grange Christmas Party and Officer Installation
Santa Barbara County Pomona Grange will host a Christmas party and officer installation Sunday at the Grange Hall in Los Olivos. A ham dinner at 12:30 will be followed by gifts and a Christmas program with a $2 limit on gifts. Mrs. Hortense Freeman of Santa Ynez will lead the officers.

Robert Jones, a Santa Ynez Valley High School senior, is named the Santa Barbara Chapter DAR Good Citizen Award winner. He is the first boy to win the honor as the DAR rules now include senior boys. he previously held roles in 4H, FFA, band, AF S and student government and may advance to district competition.

Farm Bureau backs county water plan with four point program
Santa Barbara County Farm Bureau directors at a Santa Ynez meeting adopted a four point set of county water recommendations for submission to the Water Agency and advisory committee. The plan calls for a Goleta west irrigation district, inclusion of more agricultural lands in water planning, shift to state project water with landowner compensation, and a 10 to 20 percent reserve of state water for future use. The group cited a Goleta area survey showing 7000 acres suitable for high value crops if water is available.
