Democrats urge withdrawal of farm labor initiative
Two California Democrats urge Secretary of State Edmund G. Brown Jr. to pull Prop. 22 from the November ballot after claims of widespread petition fraud. Sen George Moscone says at least 200 affidavits show people were duped into signing the measure. Prop 22 would bar secondary boycotts of farm products and set up a farm labor disputes board.

Agriculture chief backs Watson tax proposal in California
California agriculture director C Brunel Christensen, appointed last spring, endorses Prop 14 to cap property tax rates as beneficial to farmers, though Governor Reagan opposes it. The aide notes the endorsement is personal while Christensen owns 164000 acres in Modoc County. Prop 14 would set a seven dollar per hundred assessed valuation tax cap and could create a 1.3 billion revenue gap requiring new taxes.
