County Assessments Lag Behind Full Tax Value in 1971
State Board of Equalization Chairman Richard Nevins released final county assessment ratios showing Santa Barbara County at 22.6 percent of market value as of March 1 1971, below the statewide 24.2 percent. Ratios drive more than 739 million dollars in state school aid and educational financing and affect district wealth, loans, debt limits, and intercounty tax rates through formula benchmarks.
