Police search for a burglar who ransacked a South Street home while the owner was away. He damaged rugs, boosted heat, and escaped with a knife worth 15 dollars. A waterbed valve was opened causing about 1000 dollars in damage.

Oil Rig Collapse Claims life of Bakersfield man
A Santa Maria oil rig collapse killed 23 year old Larry Keeney and injured 37 year old James Keath. Keeney died at Marian Hospital after being pinned on impact at the Texaco Oil Lease on Orcutt Garey Road. Keath suffered head injuries and was listed in good condition. Detectives said Keeney climbed 60 feet and Keath 20 feet before the 90 foot steel derrick fell with both men on the structure. No cause has been determined.

Graveside rites set for Walter A. Cramer 76 at Inglewood Park
Walter A. Cramer 76 dies in a Santa Barbara convalescent hospital after living nine years in Lompoc. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Inglewood Park Cemetery with Rev. Quinn Beebe. Starbuck Mortuary will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. this evening. He was born in 1887 in Wisconsin and survived by a sister Rena Ouimette of Lompoc and brothers Earl Cramer of Anaheim and Neil Cramer of Ohio.
