La Soufriere erupts with massive tremors in Guadeloupe

The La Soufriere volcano near Pointe-a-Pitre erupted Monday night emitting ash and fire with earthquake strength. Scientists warned the main danger could come when lava glows red, though villages were spared and residents evacuated from the danger zone. The eruption produced 85 near simultaneous tremors and 119 strong aftershocks in 19 minutes.
