Chavez pushes farm labor bill through California Assembly
In Sacramento UPI reports the farm labor bill AB3370 advances from the Assembly Ways and Means Committee on a 12 to 46 vote despite farmer and Teamster opposition. It creates an Agricultural Workers Commission to oversee elections and designate the bargaining representative, with Cesar Chavez leading UFW efforts as ranks shrink. The bill mirrors the National Labor Relations Act but excludes secondary boycotts.
