County officials see potential property tax relief from high interest
County Auditor-Controller Paul Floyd said a conservative estimate places interest earnings for the new fiscal year at 1,650,000 dollars, about 600,000 more than prior budget estimates, potentially reducing the property tax rate by nine cents. City council approves funds for decorations and public works
The council voted unanimously to give 5000 dollars to the Lompoc Valley Chamber for Christmas street decorations with merchants pledged to raise 6000 to 7000 dollars. the project aims for a 12000 dollar cost. The body also approved 2160 dollars for a police driveway and landscaping and backed a portable information booth for the Centennial Committee.
