Deputies Break Up Marijuana Party in Vandenberg Village

Lompoc Airport Selects Waite and Bedford as FBOs
The Board of Supervisors named Chester C. Waite and George R. Bedford as the new fixed base operators for Lompoc County Airport. They will operate under a one year agreement drawing from the prior Lompoc Flying Service arrangement, with Waite as flight instructor and Bedford as chief mechanic. The contract allocates 90 percent of tie down fees and hangar rentals to the operators, two percent to the county on other gross sales and services, and one percent on gasoline sales.

Goldsmith named acting director of Santa Barbara County Health
William Goldsmith a contracting psychiatrist in County Health Services was elevated to acting director effective Monday. A pay raise from 34728 to 35772 was approved with the upgrade to senior psychiatrist, and the appointment fills the gap left by Dr Norbert J McNamara with a permanent director being recruited. County officials noted high external earnings for county psychiatrists while acknowledging a shortage of qualified professionals.

Obituaries for Norman Klemeth Skau and Minnie Workman
Funeral services for Norman Klemeth Skau 51 will be held at Starbuck Mortuary Chapel with full military honors. Skau, born March 18 1922 in Maddock North Dakota, retired major from the Air Force and died Saturday in Lompoc District Hospital. He is survived by his son Norman W. Skau, siblings in Washington and six nieces and nephews. An earthquake of magnitude 4.75 was reported off Southern California. Minnie Workman 87 died yesterday in Lompoc after moving there last year from Missouri. Local arrangements are by McPeek Family Mortuary.
