Obituaries for Hixson and Wilson. two deaths noted

Joseph Hixson Jr. 43 died yesterday of an apparent heart attack at Lockheed's Kodiak tracking station. Graveside services for Scott Lewis Wilson 14 will be held Monday at Evergreen Cemetery in Lompoc after a drowning incident. Wilson, a nine year Lompoc resident and student athlete, was born May 20 1957 in Oxnard. Arrangements by McPeek Family Mortuary. An ancient Hebrew span measures about nine inches.

County salary plan debated in Santa Barbara County

UCSB Opposes Cessna jet center plan near Goleta airport

UCSB Vice Chancellor Ray Varley says the university is concerned about a proposed 50 year Cessna Aircraft jet service lease at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. Goleta Valley residents rally against the project and public hearings are planned after supervisors pass along concerns. The environmental impact study is urged to assess probable campus and resident consequences. In a separate item, Manuel Padilla, alias Manuel Rodriguez, is linked to a 1927 murder warrant uncovered during a drunkenness arrest, with the original file reportedly missing.

California expands endangered species list nine additions

The California Senate approved adding sable antelope wolf zebra whale cobra python sea turtle colobus monkey and kangaroo to the endangered list restricting commercial use. The bill passed 31-0 and was sent to the assembly after no debate. Last year vicuna leopards and ocelots were the initial listed species.
