Commission rejects 303 campsite plan near Buellton
The County Planning Commission voted 9 to 0 to deny Monarch Land & Development Co.’s request for a conditional use permit to establish a 303 campsite at Circle A Ranch 8250 Santa Rosa Rd two and a half miles west of Buellton. Opponents from PLUS Protect Lompoc’s Unique Surroundings and local landowners argued the project would disrupt open grazing land and increase traffic. Planning Director Britt Johnson cited infeasibility of large scale recreation on isolated agricultural land, and opponents urged keeping recreation out of open grazing areas.
