Carter sets preconditions for Geneva peace talks

President Carter told reporters in Washington that there is no point in holding a Geneva peace conference this year unless substantial achievements are made beforehand. He said pre-Geneva agreements could reduce disputes over Palestinian representation and delegation composition, and he described his talks with King Hussein as productive.

SALT talks resume May 11 in Geneva under US lead

Sign approved for Oceanwood apartments in Lompoc

Lompoc Planning Commission approved the concept of a identification sign for Oceanwood apartments at Ocean Avenue and U Street clearing final ARC review. The two sided sign will be 54 square feet and details must be approved by the Architectural Review Committee before it becomes a reality.

Four cities deemed ineligible for SB 174 funds in county plan

Four of five county cities Santa Maria Lompoc Carpinteria and Guadalupe do not qualify as urban areas for the 102000 SB 174 funds. Goleta Valley including Isla Vista and western Santa Barbara Goleta Valley qualify for the full amount to fund recreational facilities. The plan noted 1970 census designations stirred controversy and funds will be discussed in the 1977 78 budget. weather notes follow with variable high cloudiness through Wednesday and minor temperature changes.

Suspect ransacks home twice while cab waits

Police say Bobby Kay Hogan 34 of 617 B North A St used a taxi to visit Dr Milton Verne Duncan at 214 South H St while the couple were away. She reentered a second taxi an hour later for another raid. Bail set at 2000.
