Lompoc tax hike seeks seven percent transient tax
Lompoc council introduced an ordinance raising the transient occupancy tax from six to seven percent with final approval expected May 4. Santa Barbara County supervisors approved a similar measure in unincorporated areas. Dissent came from Beattie and Fletcher. The tax surplus would fund the general fund and tourism efforts, including Chamber of Commerce support. The meeting also scheduled a public hearing May 4 on underground utility districts for South Alley area and discussed water issues with County Farm Bureau involvement. Ward apologized for a controversial letter about Vandenberg Air Force Base. An ordinance to resolve a Balaam lot-line problem and a $6500 paying project for F-G were approved.
