Stable plans set for reduction of horse stable project
Faced with protests from Lompoc Valley neighbors, Franklin S. Manners agrees to scale down a horse boarding stable and riding area in La Salle Canyon. Environmental officials say a plan for 48 stables on a 28.8 acre parcel near Highway 150 and La Salle Canyon Rd will replace the previously proposed 96 stables. The item was removed from the agenda pending revision of the negative declaration amid ongoing environmental objections.

Stop Exxon committee files argument against issue
The Stop Exxon Here Committee filed a rebuttal for Proposition A in the May 27 referendum. Chair Karen Thompson argued the pro Exxon narrative misleads voters by implying approvals are completed. She warned the tax gains do not cover county costs and homeowners would save little, about $2.88 yearly on a $40,000 home in Santa Barbara.
