A United Air Lines Boeing 727 was hijacked from Denver to Los Angeles and diverted to San Francisco where the suspect obtained a $500,000 ransom and several parachutes. The man, age 20 to 25, parachuted into rugged Utah canyons near Provo after the plane refueled and passengers disembarked. Vogt Named New 7th Air Force Commander in Vietnam
The Pentagon announced Gen John Wo Vogt Jr will command the US 7th Air Force in Southeast Asia effective immediately, replacing Gen John D Lavelle who retires for health and personal reasons.
