King Hussein proposes four point peace plan in Middle East
King Hussein of Jordan outlined a four point peace program during a Beverly Hills visit including recognition of the PLO, self determination for Palestinians, return or compensation for refugees, and guarantees for all Middle East states. He said a proposed US $350 million Hawk missile sale to Jordan collapsed after Saudi backing waned and urged decisive US action amid domestic political pressures. He praised Henry Kissinger while warning US unity on policy is needed. He contended time is short for Israel and that Arabs favor peace, not war.
