County Seeks Feedback on Desalting Plant Plan
County officials told a Wednesday session with U S Office of Saline Water director Patrick O Meara they will gather input from county water agencies to shape a response to a federal state desalting plant proposal for San Luis Obispo County. O Meara said the agency favors a $69 million project at Diablo Canyon with an alternate site in San Diego County and urged a firm plan be ready for Congress by July 29.

Building permits push Lompoc construction past 1.5 million
In the first three months of the year Lompoc issued building permits totaling about 1.508 million, with a fiscal year total near 1.961 million. Major permits included Boyer Homes for 1b homes in the southwest valued at 1.086 million and a 230 thousand dollar furniture plant at the Federal Correctional Institution. March alone accounted for 1.325 million in valuations.

Congressman says Mrs Beard wrote memo
The Baltimore Sun reports ITT lobbyist Dita Beard told Rep. Bob Wilson she wrote a memo linking an ITT gift to the GOP convention in San Diego with an antitrust settlement. Beard denies writing the memo. The Senate Judiciary Committee debates the ITT case and Kleindienst nomination as new hearings begin.
