The Centennial Steering Committee approved a 12 scene full color calendar and city letterheads marking 100 years. Calendar art selected by a judging committee, proceeds fund next year’s events, with several fundraisers planned including medallions and recipe booklets. First Valley Bank of Lompoc poised for grand opening

The first independent bank in Lompoc since 1921 is organized with $900,000 capital and 347 stockholders. Temporary HQ at Walnut Ave and North H St, with plans for a permanent site this year. Grand opening set for 10 am Monday April 9.

Forgeries Arrest Three In East College Street Case

A man a woman and a juvenile girl were taken into custody on forgery charges after arrests in the 500 block of East College Avenue. Rodney Earl Drumm 20 and Leslie Greer Gowenlock 18 were booked at Lompoc Jail. The juvenile was turned over to her parents.

County Board Deadlocks Over Santa Rosa Island Oil Permits

North county supervisors blocked a South county move to halt oil drilling permits on Santa Rosa Island pending an environmental study. Mobil Oil applied for permits in Santa Maria. the board sent the plan to the Planning Commission for public hearings after a 4-1 vote.

Buellton area lot split faces board review and protest
