Legislature considers a measure by Kistler permitting an appeal from a finding by an official in placing untaxed property on duplicates. Suffrage legislation progresses.
The Fisher company opens a new Logansport Motor Car Company garage and show room in Indiana featuring Alco, Stoddard Dayton, Empire, Overland, F I A T and Baker electric cars. Frank R. Kern manages the Indianapolis Fisher operation with plans for a major opening and national display. The building, reinforced concrete and well lit, aims to serve the South Bend to Indianapolis run with a central showroom, storage and service.
In a special session the council passed a 1800 dollar appropriation for Fifth street paving and authorized the city attorney to hire an assistant, likely local Delphi counsel, to handle Willis and Mabel Rodabaugh damages cases. Sycamore street aid was struck due to suspected missteps by contractor Amoss Palmer. bids for Fifth street may go to George Palmer this week.
A bill in equity filed in the New Hampshire Supreme Court seeks to enjoin George W. Glover and his attorneys from pursuing actions to void the will of Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy founder of the Christian Science church. The suit argues Glover and Dr E J Foster Eddy agreed to forfeit rights to Eddy's estate in exchange for a sum, while later actions challenge the bequest to the Mother Church in Boston as excessive under state law.
Senator Borah presses for nationwide popular election of senators and urges action as the senate plans to take up a resolution after routine business.
Washington February 16 The senate finance committee will hold a special Saturday session to study the Canadian reciprocity measure Senators Lodge and Smoot assured President Taft the bill would not be smothered in committee despite opposition The bill is likely to return to the senate by about Wednesday and members prefer referring the matter to the full senate with individual opinions reserved for floor consideration Leaders doubt a vote can be reached and expect an extra session may be needed.
In Lafayette Indiana on February 16 Minnesota defeated Purdue 19 to 15 in a college basketball game. The meeting highlighted strong defense and key first-half stops by the Gophers.
Oakland California February 16 Joaquin Miller famed poet of the Sierras remains in critical condition at Fabiola hospital after a rally tonight.

Mrs Ada Warner, formerly of Indianapolis and now working at the Dunn hotel, reported to police that her daughter Ada Winkleman or Ada Warner eloped with a man she was working for. The daughter vanished after canvassing for periodicals and leaving clothes behind, with indications she took a sudden departure.
