A lively campaign ballad celebrates General Zachary Taylor as Rough and Ready. The verses mock opponents and urge unity across regions, urging “get out of the way” for Taylor as the people rally behind him in a playful political tune.
A fish named Jaculator in Java reportedly casts water from its mouth to catch insects, rarely misses from five or six feet, dropping a fly with a single drop. A joke notes Santa Anna wore American fashion due to an American Taylor. Some material for this paper was unintentionally postponed.
