Ublised by H Lasselle and H W Grogan introduces terms of the telegraph with two dollars in advance. A six month option at two dollars fifty cents and a year at three dollars. Job work and advertising promised with neatness and dispatch.
A fragment from the Dec issue presents a poem titled The Sister's Farewell. It recalls a brother sister bond shared since youth, with imagery of shared prayers and quiet vigil, ending with a farewell and a knightly blessing as the sister departs with her gallant lover.
A Dublin crowd faced a heavy security presence as O Connell spoke at Clontarf and later the Rotunda. He defended peaceful repeal, warned against protectionist tariffs, and urged Ireland to seek justice through lawful action while praising the American system of industry and free trade.
At the Bourbon County Kentucky Agricultural Society fair the ladies featured numerous domestics including a remarkable pair of blankets by Mrs James Hutchcraft. The blankets weighed eleven and a half pounds each and bore Tariff and Henry Clay. Mrs Hutchcraft presented them to Mr Clay via G Davis amid praise for domestic industry.
On motion of Mr. Roberts the Senate was invited to attend in the Hall of the House to witness the oath of office administration. The Hon. James Whitcomb and Jesse D. Bright have taken the oath, and the Governor elect delivered the following address.
The speaker thanks the fellow citizens for the honor and confidence shown in the inaugural moment. He notes adherence to historic usages and reverence for the country’s long-standing traditions as he prepares to address the nation.
