They were jailed in Franklin and tied to the Providence store robbery with about ten dollars found on them. They confessed jail escape and Providence and Marion county thefts. They fled via Indianapolis Southern to New Bartersville and later Providence stealing a horse and buggy and returning toward Franklin before arrest.
Judge Landis was overruled and the $29 million fine was eased after the ruling. The case centers on the octopus matter with continued legal maneuvering and appeals pending.
In Indianapolis Judge Anderson instructed the jury in the Standard Oil of Indiana case to return a not guilty verdict.
