Four new directors joined the Ft Wayne and Northern Indiana Traction Company board in Ft Wayne, bringing total members to fifteen. New directors are Robert L Todd of Indianapolis A J Prichard of Tucker Anthony Co Boston Henry F Rainey of Philadelphia and Marshall Morgan of Philadelphia Morgan is Randall Morgan's son.
Mrs Jennie Collard wife of a glove maker was shot dead in Philadelphia today by John Leichtle fifty who was deserted by her eight years ago and later married Collard Leichtle then killed himself with a pistol The son Hamilton Letchtle fourteen discovered the tragedy
A new city water pump at the water works station aided firefighting during two minor blazes on Market and Race streets yesterday morning. The first fire at C L Dilley’s caused floor damage and led to the flue being taken out of service until repaired. The second blaze at James Bolley’s residence damaged the roof. The Allia-Chambers 6,000,000 gallon pump operated at capacity to boost pressure, though no water was used by the fire department to stop the flames.
In a four hour span yesterday, Charles Tucker fourteen and John Kelley thirteen allegedly robbed nine year old Marion Slocum of one dollar earned by selling popcorn. The pair were caught and the money recovered except for five cents. Slocum lives with his brother in law C A Fellows on Vandalia street and had built a thriving popcorn trade.
True To Life reports James Brown died near the North Carolina border after a mule kicked him in the heart while he was moving the animal for burial. Brown left behind five children who survive.
