Former President Theodore Roosevelt announces plans to travel as a private citizen for a forthcoming African hunting expedition. Details remain scarce but the trip aims to explore remote hunting grounds and wildlife observations.
Ex president Theodore Roosevelt says he will sail from New York to Africa on March 23 at noon aboard the Hamburg. He plans no public appearances before departure and will pass time at Oyster Bay except for brief trips to New York City. Roosevelt arrives home weary but in good spirits after a storm-delayed trek from Washington.
Robert C. Richards Panhandle conductor died at 5 AM in Madison Hospital Chicago from skull fractures after falling from a train at Dalton Thursday night. His widow was en route to Chicago. inquest held. body brought to city on Panhandle train 10.
The jury finds T M Ireland guilty in the case State vs. T M Ireland for assault and battery with intent to kill Frank McCulley and imposes a $250 fine. The incident occurred in Burnettsville when Ireland believed McCulley was shoeing another team of horses out of turn, neglecting Ireland's horses.
The body of Fred Loerche was found in the Des Moines river with throat cut and many stab wounds. He had been robbed by five men earlier. two of the assailants Frank Ash and Fred Young were sentenced to 15 years. It is believed the gang killed Loerche to prevent testimony at trial.
Winston Bucknell killed his 16 year old step sister Frances Miller during a family quarrel over property in Greene Iowa. He also shot at his mother in law Mrs Frederick Butzlass but the chain deflected the bullet. Bucknell was captured by citizens who threatened lynching and was placed under guard by extra deputies.
The O Leary Bowling team from Chicago will pass through here at 10 AM on a special Panhandle train bound for Pittsburg for the American Bowling Congress session. A large crowd of rooters funds the train with a baggage car diner smoker buffet two chair cars and an Atlantic engine. Engineer John Malay and Conductor Hunter will lead the train which will have top priority.
The 7 class held a Thursday after school meeting of the Tattler staff with business transacted. The 14 class had pictures taken and will be used in the publication.

In Noblesville Indiana on March 5 Rev J W Richey long time North Indiana Methodist pastor was found guilty of a statutory offense by Judge Christian. He is fined 300 dollars and sentenced to six months in jail with possible additional time as offset for the fine. Mrs Richey did not testify and plans to live with him after release.

Martinsville Indiana March 5 A missing Mrs W A Stone wife of Uniontown Pennsylvania millionaire was reported found at a Sanatorium in Martinsville but the tale was dropped by Marshal Shirman The woman undergoing intense scrutiny claimed identity via friends in Vincennes and Dallas stating her husband is dead and left her well off Local officers had heard Stone had six toes on each foot and she showed her feet to relieve suspicion confirming the usual number of toes.
Walton high school basketball team added another win last night defeating Tipton 29 to 10 before a large crowd in Bishop's hall at Walton. A game with Frankton is arranged for Friday March 12 and is expected to be strong.
President William H Taft submits his cabinet nominations to the Senate naming Philander C Knox as Secretary of State and describing his long legal career including service as attorney general and prosecutor in major cases.
