Five socialist members of the New York State Assembly were denied their seats at the opening of the 1920 session. Speaker Thaddeus Sweet ordered the socialists before the bar as a resolution to declare their seats vacant passed 140 to 6. The group faced a tribunal chosen by the assembly to prove fitness, with roll call voting against most of the socialists and two Bronx Democrats opposing the move.
An important American Legion meeting is set for this evening at the G A R hall in the Knights of Pythias building corner Fifth and Maret streets. All members are invited and former service members eligible for membership are urged to attend.
