Washington January 6 prospective Democratic presidential candidates plan to meet at the Jackson Day banquet to declare positions on public questions. Speakers include Daniels Palmer Cox Gerard Clark Cornwell Hitchcock Pomerene Underwood Owen and Mrs Oleson. The event seeks to choose a time and place for the national convention with Wilson and Bryan's positions kept confidential until Thursday night.

Mount Clemens Mich Jan 6 A warrant was issued for Lloyd Prevost cousin of Brown's widow charging first degree murder at the request of Attorney General Alex J Groesbeck. Prosecutors say circumstantial evidence upsets Prevost alibi linked to a pistol used in the Brown slaying. A woman testified to a conversation about Prevost returning a borrowed weapon. The pistol is now with the officers.
The governor general signed an order authorizing the customs minister to refuse export licenses to news print manufacturers who fail to comply with the controller of paper. A second order empowers the controller to requisition and distribute newsprint to publishers and seize papers with compensation set by the controller. Penalties for non compliance run up to 500 dollars per day for ten days.
