The Senate spent five hours debating President Wilsons fourteen principles and terms tied to open diplomacy and international disarmament ahead of the peace conference. The Associated Press reports three government mine sweepers left Fort William Canada on November 21 bound for the Atlantic coast and are believed to have foundered. No word has been received since they led the Canadian port. Tugs are searching for the missing craft.

Chicago December 4 President Ban Johnson of the American League announced that professional baseball would be resumed in the major leagues next season with government sanction. He said the war department, after reviewing conditions, saw no reason the game could not return.
The November death toll from pneumonia in Logansport reached thirty two per Health Officer E. L. Tracy. In total fifty four deaths occurred that month with twenty nine males and twenty five females. Births numbered thirty nine with twenty two male and seventeen female.

In New York on December 4 a conference of railroad executives representing over 90 percent of U S rail mileage adopted a resolution in favor of returning railroads to private ownership. They argued government control harms economic efficiency and urged policies that foster private initiative and responsibility.

Glass's delay stems from his re elected status in the House. a formal nomination could go to the Senate soon. McAdoo resigns as treasury head upon successor's appointment. he remains director general of railroads until January first or until a successor is named.
Amsterdam dispatch reports Prince Henry of Prussia acknowledging the king's abdication. He pledges to aid in order and constitutional government while remaining personally loyal to the king and vowing to protect him as the family head.
