Missoula Montana August 21 fires swept central and western Montana and northern Idaho destroying white pine timber worth $80 000 in the Coeur D Alene forest and damaging land in the Selway forest. fires also burned in the Jefferson and Bitterroot forests as crews failed to check the flames though Missoula area improved with Rattlesnake valley entrenched.
Last night the city darkened for about forty five minutes from 13 o clock to 11 45 as the electric plant shut down to allow steam generation. Tribune offices were unable to operate and readers are asked for patience if the paper arrives late.

No trace was found tonight of four masked bandits who robbed Louisville and Nashville passenger train No. 7 ten miles south of Columbia. Police hunted across middle Tennessee as the robbers escaped with about 60000 in cash from mail pouches. The engine was derailed and sent downhill unmanned for miles, running wild for over twenty miles before stopping near Wales station.

San Diego Aug 21 Colonel A J Hanlon announced two aviators from the ninth aero squadron are missing since yesterday. Lieutenants Frederick B Waterhouse of Wieser Idaho and C H Connelly of San Diego disappeared after departing Yuma Arizona for San Diego in a De Havilland with a 400 horsepower motor. Fifteen search planes scoured the area from North Island with no trace found.
Four Mexican bandits were killed by U S troops after being cornered in an adobe blockhouse on the Mexican side near the border. Captain Leonard Matlack reported that two escaped while one bandit leader, Jesus Rentaria, remained at large. Carranza troops pursued along the border as the U S general announced further action.
At 2 o clock this morning a third fire in two hours broke out in the Pittman Handle factory located at the corner of Sixteenth and Toledo streets. The blaze rapidly enveloped the large plant before the fire department could reach the scene.
Count James S Minotto and Drik Kari Muck, once wartime internees labeled enemy aliens, sailed aboard the Scand American steamer Frederick to Copenhagen. They asserted American identity as a Secret Service guard watched the vessel to prevent unauthorized departures.
