Democratic senators in a caucus voted 38 to 0 to postpone immigration bill action to the next session. They also adopted 32 to 7 a resolution pledging to defeat any attempt to attach the immigration measure to the child labor bill as a rider. The binding move aims to control southern senators ready to back a rider into the child labor bill.
Charles B. Hughes outlined his presidential campaign planks denouncing Democrat policy on Mexico and wartime rights. He urged firm Mexico policy, unflinching American rights, and strong national defense while condemning foreign intrigues and administration weaknesses.
The annual Salvation Army picnic for the city’s poor is held today at Spencer Park. About 150 people are expected. attendees assemble at Court Park at 9 am for transport. Carr Cartage, Spencer Transfer, W H Porter, Flanegin Hardware and others provide vehicles and food donations from local merchants and firms.
A city open car on the south side lines collided with an interurban car at Clay street about 9 am. Motorman P A Landis and Conductor W A Morris led the city car which struck the rear of the interurban as it stopped suddenly. No injuries reported. the interurban was undamaged and the city car front was bent.
Mrs. De Saulles seeks divorce from former Yale quarterback once named minister to Uruguay. The couple married in 1912 and have one child. White collar Chilean heiress Senorita Blanca Errazuriz is named in the suit as the former lover.
The Supt. of Police Thomas Morris records show 95 arrests in July. Major offenses include intoxication 36 cases and speed violations 11 with seven rioting charges tied to the streetcar strike. Other arrests covered public indecency petit larceny burglary larceny assault and battery and miscellaneous misdemeanors.
Samuel Lowry of Walton was arraigned on petit larceny. He pleaded guilty to complicity in theft of two hides and was fined and sentenced to 100 days at the state panel farm, with fine and sentence suspended pending good behavior.
One heat prostration was reported yesterday. Mrs. Medilson of 1831 George Street was attended by a doctor and, according to latest reports, was getting along nicely.

Fort Wayne Ind July 31 health authorities report second infantile paralysis case in the epidemic. Lavina Williams two years old is isolated at the hospital. The child’s father was killed by a train nine months ago and a brother died in a car accident three months ago.
Fire in Chicago on July 31 damaged the Rittenhouse Embree Lumber company planing mill and yards with losses estimated at 200000 dollars. One employee died from burns and many others escaped serious injury.

A heat wave set new records with 23 days above ninety and four above 100 in July. Temperatures reached 101 in Loganport while 98 was the high yesterday. cooler weather was forecast. Rain fell in southern counties and Galveston Burrows reported hail. A heat effected dog on the island led to a patrol chase and its death.
New York recorded 92 degrees at 3 30 pm making this the hottest day of the year. More than twenty people were prostrated by the heat and humidity rose to 89. The forecaster said relief would come from thundershowers tonight with a 5 to 15 degree drop expected tomorrow. Ice dealers raised prices and restaurants were notified.
